Recently, we happened to discover a new archeological site, that belongs
to chera, chola & pandya period. There is a temple near kulithalai
called Madukkarai Sellandiamman temple, which is a kula deivam for
cheras. The term Madukkarai means, Madil Karai, which means, an
embankment with a wall. We initially thought, that it is the temple
which is called as madukkarai.. but when we asked the persons in that
locality, they said, this madil karai extends up to madurai, and it was
the border between chera, chola & pandyas.

We later checked with Google Maps, and to our astonishment, we found a
straight line from sellandiamman temple up to kadavur hills. And there
was village roads existing on the bank, and we traced from the temple up
to kadavur hills. The mud bank is still intact, but the walls had been
destroyed. However, the walls exist in many pockets as it is, and it is
around 6 feet wide.

It is believed to be more than 2000 years old. So far we had traced
only up to kadavur hills. We searched in google maps and found the
madil karai extending beyong that up to madurai. Still the road is
there.
